One day I got tired of my old Windows XP bootscreen, so I decided to find a software which would help me change it periodically. BootSkin was among the best I could find. Besides the fact that it's absolutely free, it's also very stable and it makes changing the boot screen a child's play. The program works by modifying your "boot.ini" file. Even though a new boot screen is added, the old boot screen can still be used if something doesn't work right.

BootSkin comes bundled with 5 boot screens. If you don't like any of them you can download many more either from the publisher's website, or from other websites. Also, on our site, in the downloads section of this program there are links to a few other skins. Of course, if you have time and want a personalized boot screen, you could create your own by following the instructions from the "Help" - "How to create bootskins..." menu of the program.

Pluses: Another nice feature is the random boot screen selection. The program automatically changes the boot screen each time you start your computer. This guarantees the fact that you won't get bored.

Drawbacks / flaws: Only Windows 2000/XP boot screens are supported.

In conclusion: Change or randomize your boot screen with only a few clicks.
